Chignitta will hold Tomohiro Shimizu's solo exhibition “Small Small Talk” from June 14.
The round-faced women standing in landscapes depicted in Japanese painting techniques such as Rinpa and Sumie.The flat expressions on their faces evoke a variety of stories depending on the viewer.We hope you will enjoy the landscapes that emerge by not painting or erasing rather than painting.

Small Small Talk.
I am more interested in the blank space than what is drawn.
An accidental pencil smudge or paint stain on a blank sheet of paper or a freshly purchased canvas can accelerate my imagination and tell me what to do next. In response to their advice, I can focus my efforts on creating a fascinating blank space with my hands, applying color or wiping it off, and continuing the silent dialogue.
