We are pleased to report on the gallery talk held on November 19 at “Nozomi Tojinbara Solo Exhibition: Tricksters Don’t Laugh,” currently on view at Chignitta. Portraits of “tricksters” painted with overwhelming size and brush strokes. This is a long interview in which the charm of Karanihara’s works, which cross Western painting and Japanese subculture, is fully explained.

Nozomi Tojinbara

Born 1984 in Shiga Prefecture, Kyoto, Japan. 2020 Completed the doctoral course at Kyoto City University of Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts. Active mainly in Kyoto, he has held various solo and group exhibitions and has received numerous awards. She continues to paint works that induce a story in each viewer through a composition that fuses the historical and the contemporary, with the theme of children’s figures.
